The exhibition “The City Through Those Who Inhabit It” is open at the Memorial Getúlio Vargas in Glória until January 18, with free admission. The show marks a new initiative by Maruim, a creative collective focused on integrating artistic practices, fostering local talent, and building connections between art and community.
Curated by Emilyn Cristina, the exhibition features works by Biabiab, Nie Hendrix, Josafá Ribeiro, Seis Souza, Bill Neves, Jaguar da Serra, Yu Beder, Thata Farias, and Triz Chaves. The collection explores layers of urban experience through images, textures, and gestures that reflect emotion, resilience, and the realities emerging from Rio’s diverse territories.
More than a visual art show, “Territórios Vivos” invites the audience to see Rio “from within,” through the perspective of those who live and reshape it daily. Each artist contributes a fragment that together forms a vivid mosaic of what it means to inhabit Rio de Janeiro today.
The initiative reinforces Maruim’s commitment to creative freedom, collaboration, and the amplification of local narratives that define the city’s cultural diversity.
