Musical comedy Fala Sério, Mãe! opens January 8 at Roxy, Rio, starring Thalita Rebouças, with digital set design and a cozy food experience.
Based on the best-selling book, Fala Sério, Mãe! – Elas só mudam de endereço brings to the Roxy a new format that blends theater, music, snacks and socializing in a single cultural program.
Each performance becomes an emotional gathering, designed to match the tone of the musical and to bring families together around art, shared memories and the bond between mothers and children.
Produced by SRCOM and Accioly Entretenimento, the large-scale show was created to connect generations and take over the iconic Roxy stage in Copacabana with an experience that mixes emotion, entertainment and family time.
The Fala Sério, Mãe! season runs from Thursday to Sunday in January, and on Saturdays and Sundays in February and March, reinforcing the venue as a new hub for narrative and musical productions in Rio.
“Our goal was to bring together the very best of Brazilian performing arts to create a musical worthy of its audience and of the story we want to tell. Every choice, from direction to dramaturgy, comes from a desire for excellence, emotion and impact, building a large-scale production that values collective work and turns talent into a living experience on stage,” says Abel Gomes.
Theater, cinema, music and comedy in one show
Imagine a show that starts as theater, suddenly turns into cinema, bursts into music, makes you laugh like a stand-up set and still ends with the whole family gathered in one of the city’s most charming spaces.
In Fala Sério, Mãe!, the former movie screen at Roxy becomes a giant scenic backdrop, with constant interactions between digital images and the cast, creating a dynamic and surprising experience.
The digital set design covers a 140 m² screen specially developed for Roxy, expanding the language of the show and reinforcing its immersive and contemporary feel.
On stage, about 30 performers bring to life a 1h20 production that blends original songs with hits that have marked several generations, weaving humor and emotion.
The storyline of Fala Sério, Mãe! connects mothers, children, grandparents, grandchildren and even those outspoken uncles in episodes that spark recognition, affection and laughter.
Thalita Rebouças debuts on stage as an actress
For the first time in more than two decades, Thalita Rebouças steps on stage as an actress in Fala Sério, Mãe!, playing Ângela Cristina, an intense, loving, over-the-top and unforgettable mother.
The role marks a symbolic turning point in the career of the best-selling author, who has been connecting with audiences for 25 years through emotional and humorous stories.
“I’ve been telling stories and connecting with you for 25 years. Now I’m going to tell this story in a different way. On stage. For the first time,” says Thalita.
Top creative team and digital scenery
The Fala Sério, Mãe! production brings together a high-profile Brazilian creative team, with General Direction by Abel Gomes and Production Direction by Sheila Roza.
The script is signed by Thalita Rebouças in collaboration with Gustavo Reiz, preserving the spirit of the book while adapting the narrative to a musical and multimedia language.
Artistic Direction is by Priscilla Mota, Stage Direction by Tauã Delmiro, Movement Direction by Rodrigo Negri, and Musical Direction and arrangements by Tony Lucchesi.
The visual identity of Fala Sério, Mãe! is strengthened by costumes by Cláudia Kopke, set design by Tuca Mariana, lighting by Paulo Cesar Medeiros and makeup and hair design by Beto Carramanhos.
Digital and audiovisual scenery, one of the show’s major highlights, is created by Igor Corrêa, turning the 140 m² screen into a key narrative tool.
Roxy opens a new narrative and musical format
With Fala Sério, Mãe!, Roxy inaugurates a new dramaturgical format and starts to host narrative and musical productions at different times, expanding its cultural role in the neighborhood.
The venue continues to present the musical Aquele Abraço, now at a new time, 9:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m.
Comfort food and snacks to match the show
The audience of Fala Sério, Mãe! can also enjoy an easy-going and emotional food experience, with à la carte snacks designed to pair with the atmosphere of the musical.
Chef Caio Silva explains that the bites were chosen to evoke tradition, comfort and memory, focusing on original flavors, solid technique and respect for simplicity.
