Every Saturday afternoon, the renowned Blue Note venue on Avenida Atlântica, steps away from Copacabana Beach, turns into a stage for one of Brazil’s most beloved culinary traditions paired with live street music. Performances run from 2 PM to 5 PM, with free admission and no reservation required.

Amigos da Cacilda bring Rio’s street carnival to Copacabana

Throughout April, the stage belongs to Amigos da Cacilda, a brass band made up of young musicians from Favela Brass, a social music project that has become a landmark in Rio de Janeiro’s street carnival scene. Their setlist weaves through pop, rock, and classic funk, channeling the raw energy of Rio’s neighborhoods into every note.

The eleven-member lineup includes: Andre (22), saxophone; Bárbara (17), surdo drum; Bolinho (22), bass drum; Rafael (19), trumpet; Darlan Dias (19), percussion; Kakau (19), alto saxophone; HP (20), trombone; Nathan (19), trombone; Marcos Henrique (23), general percussion; Vini (19), tuba; and Ryan (17), saxophone.

A full feijoada spread — including a vegan option

The full feijoada buffet is priced at R$ 89.90 per person and includes an assortment of salted meats alongside traditional sides: crispy pork crackling, farofa, collard greens, fried cassava, fried banana, white rice, and orange slices — the finishing touch that cuts through the richness of the stew. A vegan feijoada option is also available.

A brand built on musical legacy

Founded in New York in 1981 by Danny Bensusan, Blue Note opened its doors on September 30 of that year with the Nat Adderley Quintet and quickly became the city’s premier jazz venue. Legends like Ray Charles, Dizzy Gillespie, Sarah Vaughan, and Oscar Peterson have graced its stage. Today, the brand has locations in Hawaii, California, Japan, Italy, and China.
