Two decades later, “Five Choreographers in One Body” returns with Flávia and Letícia Xavier, exploring maturity and artistic legacy in contemporary dance.
Espaço Tápias opens its 2026 season with a symbolic gesture: the revival of “Five Choreographers in One Body,” first created in 2006 for dancer and choreographer Flávia Tápias. The performance takes place on March 14, 15, 28 and 29 at Sala Maria Thereza Tápias, in Rio de Janeiro, reaffirming the space’s role as a hub for innovation in Brazilian dance.
Dialogue, transformation, and the power of the body
Originally created with ten solos — five by Brazilian choreographers and five by international artists — the project became a turning point for Grupo Tápias, uniting diverse choreographic views through the same performer. Each performance in 2026 features a unique combination of solos, transforming every evening into a new curatorial experience.

The repertory features works by Pol Coussement, Stéphanie Thiersch, Rami Levi, Thomas Lebrun, Giselle Tápias, Paulo de Moraes, and Henrique Rodovalho, reflecting the group’s bridge between Brazilian and European contemporary dance.
Legacy shared between generations
This revival gains further meaning through the dialogue between generations. Flávia shares the stage with Letícia Xavier, a rising dancer from São Gonçalo who joined the company after the project “Café Não é Só uma Xícara.” On alternating nights, each artist performs five solos, highlighting how the same choreography evolves through different bodies.
Espaço Tápias and its living ecosystem
Founded in 2022, Espaço Tápias has become a vibrant center for creation, research, and education in Brazilian contemporary dance. Led by Giselle and Flávia Tápias, the space embodies collaboration, training, and artistic exchange, drawing a new generation of creators to the stage.
