Every Wednesday in April, the Oscar Niemeyer Museum offers free workshops and guided tours on art, manga, cinema, and technology for all ages.
The Oscar Niemeyer Museum (MON), located in Curitiba, Brazil, is turning its April Wednesdays into a free educational program open to everyone. Four events are scheduled throughout the month, alternating between hands-on workshops and guided exhibition tours — all at no extra cost.
April opens with color and paint
On April 1st, the museum’s basement workshop space hosts “Experience Lab: Colors and Paints”, with sessions at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM, each lasting ninety minutes. Participants explore pigments and techniques inspired by works from MON’s collection, including pieces by Leila Pugnaloni, Geraldo Leão, Miguel Bakun, and Beatriz Milhazes. Open to adults and children aged 3 and up; children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
Manga, cinema, and technological dance
On April 8th, at 3:00 PM, the program shifts to a guided mediation in Room 10, exploring the exhibition “The Playful World of Manga and Anime.” Educators lead visitors through the show, opening up conversation and new ways of seeing. Open to all audiences.
On April 15th, the workshop “Create a Movie Poster” returns to the basement space, with sessions at 10:30 AM and 2:30 PM. Drawing from the exhibition “Dreams of Cinema: Art for the Seventh Art,” participants design their own posters using collage, stamps, and drawing techniques inspired by the silkscreen works on display. Recommended for adults and children aged 5 and up.
The month wraps up on April 22nd, at 3:00 PM, with a mediation inside the new international exhibition “Technological Dances” by French artist Alice Anderson. The meeting point is the iconic Olho (Eye) space of the MON. Open to all. This activity issues an attendance certificate: sign the presence list on the day and request the document at educativo@mon.org.br.
Free admission every Wednesday
As part of its cultural access mission, the MON offers free admission every Wednesday and on the last Sunday of each month. Tickets can be picked up at the box office on arrival or reserved online at museuoscarniemeyer.comprenozet.com.br.
Registration for all activities opens 15 minutes before each session, on a first-come, first-served basis, subject to capacity.
Latin America’s largest art museum
A state heritage institution linked to the Paraná State Secretariat of Culture, the MON holds approximately 14,000 artworks across more than 35,000 square meters of built space. Its collections span visual arts, architecture, design, and major Asian and African holdings — making it the largest art museum in Latin America.
