Nature-led art experiences

The month’s centerpiece is Encontros com a arte e a natureza, an educational setup built around touch, sound, movement, and an open studio format. The idea is simple: bring art and nature into the museum space in a way you can feel.

Percurso sensorial is the immersive option, featuring sensory installations made with natural elements and designed to spark bodily and emotional perception. It runs on February 1, from 11am to 1pm, and February 03–06 and 10–13, from 11am to 1pm and from 4pm to 6pm, for all ages.

Texturas da natureza explores color, texture, and form through natural materials. The session includes a short introduction to Krajcberg, plus experiments with soil, petals, and natural pigments, ending with a collective painting-and-collage panel. It takes place February 04–11, from 4pm to 6pm, for all ages.

In Construção de livros artesanais, each participant creates an individual handmade book, combining words, images, textures, and color. The workshop connects contemporary art with environmental awareness through drawings, collages, frottage, and prints using natural elements. It runs February 05–12, from 4pm to 6pm, for all ages.

Carnival, cinema, and creative movement

For a Carnival-ready afternoon, Pequenos Arteiros – bloquinho arteiro invites kids and families to treat Carnival as cultural heritage. Inspired by Samba Enredo (1975) by Glauco Rodrigues (from CAIXA Cultural’s collection), participants rotate through creative stations to make masks, accessories, and Carnival kites, then join a shared mini dance party. It happens on the 07 (Saturday), starting at 2pm, for all ages.

Pequenos Arteiros – o cinema na palma da mão connects with the “Os Melhores de 2025” film program and shows how movies create motion. Using examples like the animation Flow and the film Superman, kids build a thaumatrope—an optical toy that fuses two drawings into a moving illusion. It takes place on the 21 (Saturday), at 2pm, for all ages.

To close out the month, Pequenos Arteiros – brincando com formas e espaços turns the cultural center into a discovery zone focused on space, volume, and body awareness. In dialogue with the exhibition Geografias de um Corpo Bússola by Daniel Jorge, and inspired by Pedro Correia de Araújo, children create 3D sculptures using EVA foam and EVA clay. It happens on the 28 (Saturday), at 2pm, for all ages.

Training for educators

Educators also have a dedicated session: Territórios sensíveis – arte, natureza e reflexão pedagógica. Designed as continuing education, it combines sensory practices, collective creation with natural paints, and a reflection circle on listening and classroom impact, with limited spots. It will be held on the 13 (Friday), starting at 4pm, for education professionals aged 18+.
