Three Years in the Making

The Encontro Estadual de Hip-Hop — Minas Gerais’ first statewide Hip-Hop Summit — takes place on March 14 and 15, 2026, in Contagem, MG. Free to attend and groundbreaking in scope, the event brings together all five elements of Hip-Hop culture: MC, DJ, breaking, graffiti, and Knowledge — under one roof for two days of learning, networking, and celebration.

Registration is open now. 300 spots are available for MCs, DJs, b-boys, b-girls, graffiti artists, producers, educators, and collectives who are actively shaping the Hip-Hop scene across the state. Sign up for free at: forms.gle/YBUMm9Aze4q1hUVg6

Note: submitting the form does not automatically secure your spot. Organizers will apply a selection process based on diversity, representation, and geographic reach. Confirmed participants will receive their attendee code by email.

A School Becomes Hip-Hop Territory

For the duration of the summit, Escola Municipal Professora Ana Guedes Vieira, in the Nova Contagem neighborhood, will be renamed Território Hip-Hop. The venue will also serve as communal lodging — organized as a collective camp inside classrooms — for participants traveling from outside Contagem. Three free daily meals will be provided to all registered attendees.

Programming includes rap battles, graffiti workshops, slam poetry, breaking sessions, panel discussions, community forums, a cultural fair featuring local entrepreneurs, and live artistic performances. The goal goes beyond entertainment: this is about political organizing and building a unified statewide network.

“Hip-Hop saves lives on the periphery. It shows there is culture beyond hunger, insecurity, and precariousness. It creates belonging, brings together people who feel the same way, and proves that art born on the outskirts is beautiful and deserves to be valued.” — Tay Alvez, cultural producer and summit organizer

An Open Stage for the Community

On Saturday, March 14, starting at 4 PM, the summit spills into the streets. The Palco Show (Main Stage) takes over Rua Pôr do Sol, between streets VC4 and VL6 in Nova Contagem — free and open to everyone, no registration required. The neighborhood becomes the stage.

Political Support and Cultural Impact

The summit is funded through a parliamentary amendment by state representative Bella Gonçalves (Grant Agreement: 1271001745/2025), developed in partnership with city council members Moara Saboia and Iza Lourença, and supported by the City of Contagem. The event is organized by the Instituto Cultural CircoLar (ICC).

“The Encontro Estadual de Hip-Hop was born from a collective dream built over three years. Taking this project from paper to reality means turning desire into concrete action. As president of the ICC, I see this summit as a milestone for consolidating a strong, organized statewide Hip-Hop network in Minas Gerais — one with the potential to grow and strengthen with each new edition.” — Deisy Castro, president of the ICC
