Redação
The Objeto Particular gallery inaugurates the “Cartographies of the Invisible” exhibition on November 22, featuring works by four artists on religiosity and urban space.
The Galeria Objeto Particular is opening a new exhibition. The name is “Cartografias do Invisível” (Cartographies of the Invisible). The opening takes place on November 22, Saturday. The time is from 3 pm to 9 pm. Approximately 40 works will be displayed. Some of the pieces are brand new. The artists are Andre Filúr, Elton Hipólito, Luiz 83, and Michel Onguer.
The exhibition brings together four emerging artists. They share the similarity of being self-taught. Their artistic power is already recognized in the art circuit. The themes range from Afro-Indigenous symbols to paintings. The works also address city debris. Their starting point is quite diverse.
Some began on the city walls. Others started by mounting exhibitions. There is also the restoration of artworks and art education.
Spirituality and Urban Ruin
Andre Filúr presents the series “Ori”. Spirituality is strongly imprinted on the works. The series investigates the Yoruba concept of “head”. The term means guide, destiny, and spiritual force. Filúr creates sculptures that function as small altars. He uses ceramic, wood, peppers, and cowrie shells. The pieces gather memory, protection, and ancestry. Among the works are “Ori #3” and “Ori#4”, both from 2023.
Elton Hipólito is a visual artist. He is also a conservator-restorer of artworks. Hipólito also works as an exhibition installer. His works reveal beauty in ruin. They are created from collected rubble, earth, and bricks. The artist collects the materials from the city. Urban wear transforms into a poetic narrative. Among the previously unexhibited works are “Sobre o pedaço de algum lugar #39” and “#34”.
The canvases use acrylic paint on canvas. Demolition materials are notably included. There are also wooden hoardings in the artworks.
Brazilian Culture and Graffiti
Minas Gerais-born Michel Onguer presents paintings. They reveal his perspective on Brazilian culture. Everyday life and visual richness are key themes. He began his artistic activity with graffiti. He later attended canvas painting classes. This happened in a social project. He approached the art circuit by working in museums. Onguer became an art educator. He presents the new “Caju” (Cashew), an acrylic on canvas. Another featured work is “Praia do Futuro”.
Luis 83 is also self-taught. He works as an exhibition assembler. His career includes two shows at MAM-SP. This includes “Mãos: 35 anos da mão afrobrasileira” (2024). Another was the “37º Panorama da Arte Brasileira” (2023). The artist moves between drawing and sculpture. He presents the new “s/título” (untitled). It is a sculpture made of polished rebar. The work “Jardim (N_001)” will also be shown.
