Brazilian artist presents 39 works at Museo Carlos Alonso in Mendoza, curated by Patrícia Avena Navarro.
Visual artist Gerson Fogaça makes his debut in Argentina’s cultural scene with the exhibition “Caos In Itinere”, now open to the public at Museo Carlos Alonso in Mendoza. Inaugurated on November 7, the show features 39 works created between 2007 and 2025, displayed across the museum’s three floors.
Gesture, color and time in dialogue
The works highlight a constant dialogue between gesture and color, matter and time, expressing the poetic core of Fogaça’s research. A self-taught artist, Fogaça shared his enthusiasm for exhibiting in Mendoza during the opening event.
“We’ve been working on this exhibition for three years, and I’m delighted with Mendoza. It reminds me of my own city — green and welcoming. It’s a joy to be here,” said Gerson Fogaça.
Curatorship and highlights
Curated by Franco-Argentinian Patrícia Avena Navarro, “Caos In Itinere” offers a selection of works that explore the energy and vitality of Fogaça’s painting. According to Navarro, the pieces form an “urban ballet” that moves between figurative and abstract, balancing spontaneity with chromatic precision.
“Fogaça’s paintings are marked by vitality and energy. They blend spontaneous gesture with chromatic rigor, creating symbolic landscapes between the real and the imagined,” said Patrícia Avena Navarro.
Among the highlights is the piece “La Sangre en la vasija” (The Blood in the Bowl), created in 2019 and inspired by the writings of Cuban author Pedro Juan Gutiérrez. The work, previously censored in Brazil, is now presented in Mendoza as a symbol of artistic freedom.
Opening and recognition
The opening event brought together cultural figures, including José Gilberto Jungblut, Deputy Consul General of Brazil in Mendoza, and Laura Beningazza, Director of Artistic Activities of Mendoza. The exhibition is produced by Malu da Cunha and KA Produções Culturais, with support from Instituto Cultural Urukum and the Goyazes Program of the Government of Goiás.
International agenda
After Mendoza, Fogaça will present “Na Curva do Tempo” at Centro Cultural Lecrac in Palencia, Spain, curated by Dayalis González Perdomo. Opening on November 18, the exhibition runs until December 8, 2025, as part of the cultural exchange celebrating the friendship between Palencia and Rio de Janeiro.
