Works exploring time and memory

“Na Curva do Tempo” features Fogaça’s latest works, inviting viewers to reflect on time, memory, and gesture in contemporary painting. Each piece emerges as an archaeology of gestures, with urban fragments appearing, disappearing, and reemerging.

Philosophical and symbolic references

The title references philosopher Gilles Deleuze, who uses the curve as a metaphor for time and transformation. The exhibition celebrates the cultural link between Palencia and Rio de Janeiro, symbolically connected by Cristo del Otero and Christ the Redeemer.

The artist’s perspective

Fogaça explains that his work arises from observing city streets and their impact on people: “My work represents the absurd: the man-city relationship, a constant metamorphosis provoking identification, discomfort, and resignation.”

Cultural reception and perspective

The artist has held previous exhibitions in Spain, highlighting the cultural encounter. “My work addresses a universal theme: daily life. We face the same stress in the world’s large metropolises,” he says.

Curatorship and sensory experience

Curator Dayalis González notes that Fogaça transforms the pictorial space into a sensory territory, where lines and colors intertwine, inhabiting the city through movement, sounds, and layers of history.

Production and realization

Produced by Malu da Cunha and KA Produções Culturais, coordinated by Silvia Medina (Spain). Realized by Instituto Cultural Urukum, supported by the Goyazes Program, Government of Goiás, through the State Secretariat of Culture.
