A 90-actor Passion play, pop star Flay, and arrocha king Pablo headline Gravatá’s free Holy Week 2026 lineup across three cultural venues.
With Easter just ten days away, Gravatá — a mountain town in the Agreste region of Pernambuco, northeastern Brazil — is buzzing with anticipation. Hotels, guesthouses and restaurants are already filling up fast, while storefronts fill with chocolate eggs and Easter decorations, signaling the start of one of the city’s most important tourism seasons.
A 43-Year Tradition: “A Nossa Paixão”
The centerpiece of the official program is “A Nossa Paixão” (Our Passion), a theatrical production staged by the Icetag cultural group for 43 consecutive years. Directed by Alyce Alves, the show brings together 90 actors and extras to portray the final days of Jesus Christ’s life. Performances run Wednesday through Good Friday — April 1st, 2nd and 3rd — at 8 PM, at the Chucre Mussa Zarzar Events Courtyard (Av. Joaquim Didier, S/N, Centro). Each show runs one hour and fifty minutes.
Holy Saturday with Flay and Pablo
On Holy Saturday (April 4), the same venue transforms into a concert stage. The band Expresso É Show opens from 9 PM with forró and sertanejo, warming up the crowd for the night’s headliners.
Former Big Brother Brasil contestant Flay brings a set packed with pop, R&B, electronic forró and sertanejo hits. Then, Bahian singer Pablo — known as the King of Arrocha — takes the stage to close the night with fan favorites like “Homem Não Chora”, “Casa Vazia” and “Me Liga, Beijo Tchau”.
Alto do Cruzeiro: Renovated Space and Samba Weekend
The Alto do Cruzeiro pole debuts a newly renovated structure, featuring a resurfaced floor and a brand-new amphitheater. On Saturday (April 4), from 3 PM, the stage welcomes Altemar Dutra Jr. and Adilson Ramos. On Sunday (April 5), the Nosso Segredo group and singer Gerlane Lops lead a vibrant samba session.
Throughout the weekend, the 18 participants of the 2026 Circuito de Comida de Boteco (Bar Food Circuit) serve special dishes created for the event, celebrating the best of local regional cuisine.
Mercado Cultural Rounds Out the Lineup
The Mercado Cultural — a year-round tourism hub known for regional food and live music — completes the three-pole program. On Saturday (April 4), from 1 PM, Rodrigo Lins e Os Implacáveis and Sandro Monteiro e Banda Kanastra take the stage. On Sunday (April 5), also from 1 PM, Paulo Taciano e Banda close out the venue’s festivities.
All events during Gravatá’s Holy Week 2026 are free and open to the public.
