Grota Orchestra celebrates 30 years with a special concert at Theatro Municipal de Niterói on November 23.
Theatro Municipal de Niterói will host the celebrations for the Grota Orchestra’s 30th anniversary. On Sunday, November 23, a special concert will bring together all orchestras from the Espaço Cultural da Grota and independent groups formed by musicians who trained in the project. Tickets are available at the theater’s box office or online.
Starting at 5 p.m., the audience will follow the orchestra’s history through a repertoire selected especially for the occasion. The program highlights works that marked its journey, featuring genres ranging from popular to classical music.
Three decades of music and social impact
The Grota Orchestra is maintained by the Espaço Cultural da Grota, a nonprofit social inclusion project based in Niterói, with additional units in São Gonçalo, Itaboraí and Nova Friburgo. The initiative offers free classes in various instruments, music education, tutoring, yoga, university prep, drawing and painting.
The program has already guided more than 100 students into university, with many graduates now pursuing postgraduate studies. Several former participants have returned as teachers within the project.

Throughout these three decades, the Grota Orchestra has expanded horizons through music and strengthened culture as a tool for inclusion. The group has represented Niterói in several cities, states and countries, becoming a symbol of citizenship achieved through art and education.
