In March, Núcleo Bartolomeu de Depoimentos launches its 2026 residency at Instituto Capobianco with “Hip-Hop Blues – Espólio das Águas”.
The Instituto Capobianco opens its 2026 season by hosting Núcleo Bartolomeu de Depoimentos, a pioneer in Brazilian hip-hop theater known for blending epic narrative, rap, and spoken poetry. Celebrating 25 years of innovation, the group will occupy the venue in the first semester with shows, open workshops, and artistic exchanges.
The residency kicks off on March 6 with the return of the play “Hip-Hop Blues – Espólio das Águas”, running until March 29. Under the direction of Claudia Schapira, the work connects memory and desire to explore collective storytelling confronting racism, lgbtqia+phobia, and intolerance. “The result has evolved over time, opening new layers at every performance,” notes Schapira.
Onstage, rain floods São Paulo — a poetic image of resistance. Mixing testimony and fiction, the core artists Claudia Schapira, Eugênio Lima, Luaa Gabanini, and Roberta Estrela D’Alva perform alongside Dandá Costa, Dani Nega, and Daniel Oliva. Through video, voices of Adeleke Adisaogun Ajiyobiojo, Aretha Sadick, and Zahy Guajajara expand the diversity and impact of the piece.
The residency also features hip-hop theater workshops, ZAP! Slam poetry events, open rehearsals, and film screenings, strengthening the dialogue between contemporary art and community. Later in 2026, the venue welcomes Núcleo Olho (Janaina Leite) for the second semester residency.
