I.A.RES returns to Parque das Ruínas this Saturday, December 6, with free entry and experimental music, dance, and performance.
The Glória Maria Park, known as Parque das Ruínas, hosts the second edition of I.A.RES – Interdisciplinary Artistic Residencies. Curated by musician and cultural producer Rodrigo Girafa, the free event presents the results of a program dedicated to the creation of interdisciplinary works combining music, dance, and performance.
Six resident artists participate, including Argentine saxophonist Camila Nebbia, performer Ämarcél, and percussionist Sérgio Krakowski, alongside musicians Rodrigo Girafa (electric guitar), Lee Hodel (acoustic bass), and Zozio (drums).
Improvisation as artistic language
At 3 p.m., Ämarcél, Camila Nebbia, and Sérgio Krakowski present an original piece that merges sound experimentation and body movement. Then, the Trio Girafa/Hodel/Zozio performs a set that explores melody, rhythm, and texture through improvisation.
Closing the afternoon, the Panthalassa Ensemble, formed by all six artists, transforms the creative process into a spontaneous collective performance that challenges sonic expectations.
“I.A.RES is a residency that uses improvisation as a creative tool. The final work emerges from shared listening and artistic synergy,” says curator Rodrigo Girafa.
According to him, the name Panthalassa refers to the ancient global ocean that surrounded Pangea, symbolizing artistic connection across boundaries.
