Cia Estrela D’Alva’s project closes 2025 with a free play at Cine Teatro Carlos Gomes and shows in public schools.
The Itinerant Theater School wraps up 2025 with performances in public schools and a special open show in Santo André. About 35 students will be on stage at the Cine Theatro de Variedades Carlos Gomes on December 5 at 7 p.m. Admission is free, with a LIBRAS interpreter available.
The project, created by Cia Estrela D’Alva de Teatro, brings theater classes directly to local public schools, promoting artistic training, creative exchange, and cultural access. In addition to the public performance, students will present the same productions exclusively at the participating schools, also with LIBRAS translation.
School presentations take place on November 29 at E.E. Senador João Galeão Carvalhal, in Jardim Bela Vista, and on December 9 at E.E. Dr. Luiz Lobo Neto, in Bairro Paraíso. The plays portray the realities of adolescence through characters dealing with family, education, sexuality, gender, and emotional challenges.
“If adults often say about adolescence that ‘they’re just like that,’ these works come to show that’s not true. They are many things, live their own stories, and need care and affection,” says the Itinerant Theater School team.
All sets and costumes were created by the students under the guidance of Denise Guilherme and Mauro Martorelli, with dramaturgy consulting by Enrique Auê and support from psychologist Elânia Francisca and cultural accessibility expert Carla Jarra.
The project runs throughout the school year in state public schools in Santo André, offering weekly theater classes for high school students. It also includes workshops, cultural exchanges, and visits to performances to deepen artistic repertoires and community engagement.
The initiative is supported by the Aldir Blanc National Policy (PNAB) through the Ministry of Culture and the Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industry of the State of São Paulo.
