From March 4 to 8, Martins&Montero represents Brazil at the 45th edition of ARCOmadrid, one of the world’s leading contemporary art fairs. The gallery presents a cross-generational dialogue between the subversive legacy of Hudinilson Jr. and the poetic, political power of Lia D Castro.

A key figure in Brazilian conceptual and queer art in the 1970s and 1980s, Hudinilson Jr. is known for his radical experiments with the body and photocopy, challenging censorship, gender norms, and representation. His influence remains essential in today’s global critical discourse.

Extending this lineage, Lia D Castro explores memory, social presence, and subjectivity. Her highly performative approach transforms the body into a space of resistance and self-assertion. Among the featured works is the series “AXS NOSSXS FILHXS” (2019–2026), a reflection on identity and collective power.

The dialogue between Hudinilson Jr.’s legacy and Lia D Castro’s contemporary voice highlights the ongoing evolution of artistic and political narratives worldwide.
