During January and February 2026, the MASP — São Paulo Museum of Art Assis Chateaubriand launches eight new open courses. The MASP School revives its tradition of practical teaching with classes in drawing, painting, and performance, along with online courses on portraiture, curatorial practice, and the relationship between art and mental health.

According to Iliriana Rodrigues, MASP School’s pedagogical coordinator, “the intention behind bringing back practical courses is to create basic and introductory opportunities for experimentation, connecting artistic practice with the power of exchange and networking.”

The courses have limited spots and include materials for students. The school expanded time slots and introduced afternoon classes, including a drawing course for teenagers. Most activities take place on the 8th floor of the Pietro Building, with additional sessions at the Free Span and ongoing exhibitions.

In-person highlights

Highlights include “Introduction to Drawing Practice” and “Drawing Lab” with João Parisi, “Observation Painting Practice” with Paloma Mecozzi, “Collective Performance as Ancestral Reconstruction” with Carolina Velasquez, and “Ugly Drawings at MASP” with Helena Obersteiner.

Online courses

The online lineup includes “The Genre of Portraiture” with Felipe Corrêa, “Introduction to Curatorship” with Osmar Paulino, and “Relationships between Art and Mental Health” with Diana Kolker. Lessons are streamed live and recordings remain available for up to thirty days.

Scholarships and discounts

All courses offer scholarships and discounts for public school teachers and members of the Amigo MASP program. Certificates are issued for students who attend at least 80% of classes.
