The play Medea, by Seneca, continues its acclaimed run at Sesc Consolação. Premiered on January 29 at Teatro Anchieta, the show now extends through March 15, 2026. New tickets will be available from March 3 at 5 p.m. online and from March 4 at the venue box offices.

Directed by Gabriel Villela, the production emphasizes the ancient rage and timeless tragedy of Medea while addressing contemporary issues such as violence and ageism. Three leading actresses share the title role: Rosana Stavis, Mariana Muniz and Walderez de Barros (guest appearance), alongside Jorge Emil, Claudio Fontana, Plínio Soares, Letícia Teixeira, and Gabriel Sobreiro.

Reflection and expansion

As part of the Expansão series by Sesc’s Theater Research Center, the production will host the event “Expansão Medea: Time on Stage – Women, Theater, and Aging” on March 7. The conversation brings together Walderez de Barros, Rosana Stavis, Mariana Muniz, and Georgette Fadel, marking the 20th anniversary of Gota D’Água. The discussion explores the aging of women on stage and the many ways of portraying Medea.
