Christmas in the Mountains opens with over 8,000 visitors and Renato Teixeira show in Monte Verde.
The 2025 edition of Christmas in the Mountains began on November 15 in Monte Verde (MG), drawing more than 8,000 people to the opening ceremony at the district’s main gate. The celebration marks the start of an extensive cultural program running until February 1, 2026.
The opening night featured a performance by Renato Teixeira and a concert by the Camanducaia Viola Orchestra, held at the newly inaugurated Christmas Village. During the lighting ceremony, Santa Claus officially opened the festivities, themed “Advent, a time of hope”.
The event is expected to welcome 300,000 visitors and has an investment of more than R$ 3 million. The initiative is organized by MOVE, the Municipality of Camanducaia, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Culture, SESC/SENAC and the Federal Government, with sponsorship from Arteris through Brazil’s Federal Cultural Incentive Law.
The opening schedule also featured a theatrical presentation by the group “Mas Por Quê?”, a low-noise fireworks display and the symbolic handover of the town’s key to Santa Claus, performed by Mayor Rodrigo Alves de Oliveira.
The program continues on Saturday, November 22, with the Arteris Noel Blitz at 2 p.m., the Arteris Life Elf at 4 p.m., and the traditional Arteris Awakening of the Lights Parade at 7 p.m.
On November 29, when Monte Verde celebrates its 75th anniversary, the village will host additional activities, including the “Embracing Destination” medal ceremony at 8:40 p.m. and a show by Tiago Iorc at 9:30 p.m.
According to MOVE president Rebecca Wagner, the opening exceeded expectations and highlighted the impressive thematic decoration created for the 2025 edition.
The village once again turns into a dazzling Christmas landscape, with illuminated points such as the Noel Village, the Arteris Santa’s House, and decorated areas along the main avenue, including a light tunnel and themed photo spots like a Christmas carousel.
The Christmas Village also includes an area dedicated to the “Origin in Minas” project, by Sebrae Minas, showcasing local crafts and regional products. The municipality emphasizes that the festival strengthens tourism, generates jobs and increases the destination’s national visibility.
The event is sponsored by Grupo Passalaqua, Fondare Empreendimentos, Rede Dom Pedro, RDP Pontua, Biona, Melhoramentos Florestal, RX Construtora and Andra Materiais Elétricos, with support from Sebrae, the Serras Verdes Employers’ Union, Home Fibra, COMTUR and the Camanducaia Military Police. AZA Soluções is responsible for event construction, with artistic production by the companies “Mas Por Quê?” and “Giralua” and cultural management by Pomar.
