65th anniversary program

The Museum of the Republic celebrates its 65th anniversary with a free program dedicated to Black consciousness, ancestral gastronomy and women’s protagonism. The event takes place on 15 and 16 November, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in the gardens of Palácio do Catete in Rio de Janeiro.

Across two days, visitors take part in conversations about Black literature, panels highlighting women’s strength and cultural actions that reinforce the museum as a space of dialogue, diversity and living memory.

The schedule includes live performances, free exhibitions, a creative economy fair, craftsmanship and flavors from across Brazil. Afro-Brazilian and ancestral cuisine is highlighted as a bridge between tradition, affection and identity.

History and mission

Since its creation in 1960, the Museum of the Republic has preserved and shared the political, social and cultural history of republican Brazil. Located inside the former Palácio do Catete, which housed the Presidency of the Republic between 1897 and 1960, the museum has become a meeting point between past and present.

The 65th anniversary reinforces the museum’s invitation to celebrate the voices and expressions that shape Brazilian identity. The event welcomes all ages and connects history, art and awareness in the same space.
