Origami takes center stage at POW Festival 2025 with talk and workshop

POW Festival hosts origami talk, workshop and exhibition with Marcio Okabe on December 6 and 7 in Ribeirão Preto.

Origami, a symbol of Japanese culture and an expression of focus and sensitivity, becomes a highlight of POW Festival 2025. The activity led by Marcio Okabe, educator and creator of Origami Club, will take place on Saturday, December 6, starting at 1 p.m., at A Fábrica in Ribeirão Preto. The venue will also host a special exhibition on December 6 and 7.

After the success of the previous edition, the activity returns with an expanded proposal that fosters creativity, concentration and artistic exchange. Okabe, an engineer trained at Unicamp, presents origami as a tool for imagination and innovation.

Origami for Creativity

The program opens with the talk “Origami for Creativity”, which reflects on the role of manual arts in personal development and problem-solving in everyday life.

Torus Origami Workshop

Next, participants join the interactive Torus Origami workshop, a foldable sculpture that represents the flow of energy between nature and the human heart. The experience concludes with an introduction to the Tessellation technique.

Exhibition “Origami Club: paper is poetry!”

The festival also welcomes an exhibition featuring giant origami pieces and creative structures that inspire curiosity and artistic exploration.

“The return of origami to POW shows how the public values experiences that promote presence and sensitivity,” says Rodrigo Carlomagno, Head of Institutional Projects at Instituto SEB.
