The staged reading created by Luiza Cesar explores nine female emotions and addresses issues such as legal abortion and violence.
The piece “Paladar de Copas” will be presented on December 6 and 7 at 4 p.m. The work brings nine stories that explore feminine experience in a sensory format. The dramaturgy uses the rasa-box technique, which divides a box into nine spaces, each linked to an emotion: love, pain, anger, enchantment, disgust, laughter, fear, courage and unity.
The project was selected by the “Você In Cena” call from InCena Produções. It will be performed in Botafogo with popular-price tickets: R$20 full and R$10 half.
The narratives address urgent issues such as marital rape and abortion, as well as themes like self-irony and resistance to social expectations. The piece connects to current debates about access to legal abortion in Brazil.
A 2024 case in Goiás highlighted institutional barriers: a 13-year-old girl, pregnant after rape, received authorization for the procedure only under the condition of preserving fetal life.
The national reaction to the death of Paloma, a 24-year-old woman who suffered complications suggesting an unsafe abortion, underscores the distance between law and reality. Thousands of women rely on clandestine methods every year.
“The spectacle was born from the rasabox technique, but it soon expanded into the feminine. Feeling within the woman’s reality resonates with absence, insufficiency and freedom,” says Luiza.
The staged reading invites the audience to follow the creative process and share reflections emerging from this sensory territory.
“Many women are not allowed to feel certain emotions. The nine emotions guide the piece, and each brings a different story about the experience of being a woman,” she explains.
The cast includes Elizândra Souza, Ingrid Ranieri and Luiza Cesar. Direction is by Luiza Cesar and Pri Helena, with movement direction by Paula Lopes and musical direction by Rohl.
