To celebrate International Human Rights Day, Petrobras will offer free admission to the Museum of the Portuguese Language in São Paulo. Visitors that day will have free access to both the permanent and temporary exhibitions and receive an exclusive bookmark as a gift from the museum’s main sponsor.

Located at Estação da Luz, the Museum is managed by São Paulo’s Department of Culture, Economy, and Creative Industries, and counts on Petrobras’ support through Brazil’s Federal Culture Incentive Law (Lei Rouanet).

Funk exhibition takes center stage

Visitors can enjoy the temporary exhibition “FUNK: A Cry of Boldness and Freedom,” on display since November 15. Originally created by the Museum of Art of Rio (MAR), the show highlights the funk genre’s social and artistic power through 473 works including paintings, photographs, and audiovisual pieces. The curators are Taísa Machado, Dom Filó, Amanda Bonan, Marcelo Campos, and Renata Prado.

In São Paulo, the exhibition includes exclusive content focusing on the local funk scene, exploring how the genre shapes both language and identity in Brazil.

Immersive experiences about the Portuguese language

In addition to the temporary exhibition, the museum’s main show explores the evolution and richness of Brazilian Portuguese through interactive and audiovisual experiences. One highlight is “Português do Brasil,” which traces the history of the language from the Roman Empire to today.

On the third floor, visitors can enjoy the Auditorium and the Praça da Língua, featuring projections, films, and performances such as Carlos Nader’s “O que pode a língua.” Entry to these areas is limited and requires a free ticket, which can be collected from the team at the entrance.

Petrobras’ sponsorship enables the museum to host exhibitions, educational programs, and cultural events, strengthening its role as a key hub for language and cultural diversity in Brazil.
