At 15, Rio de Janeiro dancer Pietra Rêgo is the only Latin American finalist at the prestigious Prix de Lausanne 2026.
Trained at the historic Maria Olenewa State School of Dance, attached to the Theatro Municipal do Rio, Pietra has been admired since 2021 for her technique and dedication. Currently in her second technical year, she stands out as one of Brazil’s brightest new ballet talents.
Her performances with the Cia BEMO company earned her major roles such as Princess Florine in The Sleeping Beauty, solos in Paquita, and scenes from The Little Humpbacked Horse. In December 2025, she starred as Clara in Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker at the Theatro Municipal.
“Pietra stands out for her discipline, dedication, and commitment — qualities essential for a successful dance career.” — Hélio Bejani, EEDMO director.
At the Prix de Lausanne 2026, a world-renowned competition for dancers aged 15 to 18, Pietra not only reached the finals but was also voted Best Dancer by public vote. Her success highlights EEDMO’s excellence in forming new ballet artists in Brazil.
“She proves that serious, consistent work with qualified teachers leads to great achievements.” — Paulo Melgaço, EEDMO vice-director.
