The Pilgrim Image of Our Lady of Penha travels through Espírito Santo during the 2026 Penha Festival, spreading faith and solidarity.
The Penha Festival 2026, one of Brazil’s largest Marian celebrations, will be held from April 5 to 13 under the theme “Make us instruments of peace.” Within its schedule, the traditional Penha Peregrina brings the state’s patron saint to various communities, especially to those unable to attend the celebrations at the Penha Convent.
The journey begins on April 6 in Cariacica and continues through April 10, visiting Alfredo Chaves, the Military Chaplaincy in Vitória, and the Vila Velha VI Penitentiary, among other places. Each stop reflects a message of compassion, faith, and the presence of the Virgin with people from different walks of life — from those living on the streets to those keeping social peace.
“The Penha Peregrina embodies the spirit of the Penha Festival: a celebration that goes beyond the Convent, meeting people where they are,” says Friar Gabriel Dellandrea, guardian of the Convent.
With more than 40 Masses and 14 pilgrimages, the festival highlights the diversity of Marian devotion. Performances by Eliana Ribeiro (April 12) and Thiago Brado (April 13) will mark the event’s main musical moments. Pilgrimages from men’s, women’s, youth, and diocesan groups form a vibrant mosaic of faith that unites Espírito Santo.
