Making its São Paulo debut, the Pintando o 7 Festival arrives at CAIXA Cultural with a vacation-season lineup that blends dance with theater and hands-on experiences for kids and adults. The 11th edition runs from December 27, 2025 to January 25, 2026, as part of CAIXA Cultural’s 45th anniversary celebrations.

Curated by Pernambuco-born writer, actor, and playwright Luciano Pontes, this year’s theme is “The Place of Childhoods.” The program highlights how children see, interpret, and reshape the world—through works that balance humor, tenderness, poetry, and visual beauty in hybrid stage languages.

“Pintando o 7 invites audiences to feel wonder, reflect, and talk to each other.”

Across the full season, the festival also runs an environmental action: families receive seed cards to plant at home. The gesture connects arts education to ecological awareness in a simple, memorable way.

A workshop kicks things off

The opening event is the Masks in Motion workshop on December 27, led by Luciano Pontes. Designed for children ages 6 to 11, it introduces two iconic carnival traditions from Pernambuco—“Papangus” (Bezerros) and “Caretas” (Triunfo)—and invites kids to create their own illustrated masks.

The workshop combines hands-on making with movement games. Short videos help contextualize the popular traditions and deepen cultural understanding.

Three shows, three worlds

In January, weekends feature free 3 p.m. performances, with tickets handed out one hour before each show. The lineup brings acclaimed companies and pieces built around imagination, movement, and direct audience connection.

On January 10 and 11, “Circle of Whales” by Pia Fraus takes the audience underwater to follow part of the humpback whale life cycle. Mixing dance, theater, puppets, masks, and visual arts, it sparks curiosity while underscoring the importance of protecting marine habitats.

Next, from January 16 to 18, Minas Gerais-based Grupo Primeiro Ato presents “Puzzle,” a high-energy blend of contemporary dance, theater, circus, and mime. Humor and audience participation drive the action, turning the performance into a playful shared game.

The festival closes January 23 to 25—São Paulo’s birthday weekend—with “Ludic” by Cia Druw de Dança Contemporânea. Inspired by Wassily Kandinsky, the piece turns dots, lines, curves, and circles into characters, as if a blank canvas becomes a painting in real time.

Libras accessibility dates

Select sessions include a Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) interpreter on January 10, 17, 24, and 25, reinforcing the festival’s commitment to access and shared family experiences.
