Play “Aos domingos”, directed by Marcos França, has final shows at Cia. dos Atores in Lapa, as part of the Sede Viva project.
Inspired by Domingos Oliveira’s phrase “Theater has the size of life”, 13 young actors explore the artist’s work in “Aos domingos”.
The play will be presented on November 28, 29, and 30, on the terrace of Cia. dos Atores headquarters in Lapa.
On stage, actors perform characters drawn from Oliveira’s poetry. Scenes from films such as “Amores”, “Separações”, and “Todas as Mulheres do Mundo” appear alongside excerpts from the “Cabarés Filosóficos” and music from his works.
The project began in 2022 at CAL (Casa de Artes de Laranjeiras) during classes with Marcos França. After graduation, the young actors resumed the work, turning it into an original play.
During their immersion, the cast watched Oliveira’s entire filmography, studied his plays, spoke with actors from his films, and accessed notes from the “Cabarés Filosóficos”.
The group also researched excerpts from Oliveira’s books, including “Duas ou três coisas que eu sei sobre ela, a vida”, “Do tamanho da Vida”, and “Vida Minha”.
The play is part of the Sede Viva program, launched in March 2025, curated by Cesar Augusto, and funded by the Rio de Janeiro City Hall Pró-Carioca program.
