Polifonia Paulista performs works by Vivaldi and Händel in a free concert at Nossa Senhora da Consolação Parish.
Polifonia Paulista, a choir founded in 2025 under the direction of maestro Jésus Figueiredo and preparatory conductor Diego Pellegrini Totaro, presents another concert as part of its activities in partnership with the Associação de Canto Coral. The performance takes place on November 30, at 1:30 p.m., with free admission, at Nossa Senhora da Consolação Parish.
The program highlights two pillars of European Baroque music: Gloria RV 589, by Antonio Vivaldi, and selected choruses from Messiah, by Georg Friedrich Händel. The ensemble uses period instruments, offering a sound closer to historical performance practices.
Period instruments
The concert features Baroque strings — violins, viola, cello and double bass — as well as traverso, Baroque oboe, two Baroque trumpets and spinet, performed by maestro Jésus Figueiredo. The choice reinforces the group’s commitment to historical research.
The initiative seeks to emphasize classical repertoire and bring audiences closer to choral concert music. Polifonia Paulista invests in technical excellence, continuous training and projects that strengthen the choral tradition in São Paulo.
