After Carnival, Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in Rio de Janeiro keeps the city’s cultural pulse going. The new schedule highlights family-friendly programming, hands-on workshops, and updated accessibility dates for one of the season’s busiest shows.

Carnival spirit for kids

On February 28 at 2pm, CCBB Educativo hosts the Breque no Piripaque mini-bloco parade. The rotunda will echo traditional Carnival marchinhas led by the Projeto Roda de Palhaço, which has spent ten years bringing joy to children in health institutions.

Meanwhile, the weekly clowning activity Onomatoclowns invites visitors to improvise comic-book-style dialogue in real time, mixing sound effects, timing, and playful storytelling.

Comics-themed Lab Maker workshops

Starting February 21, Espaço Conceito Banco do Brasil RJ launches new Lab Maker workshops inspired by comics. Kids can explore drawing, basic visual narrative, and how to build punchy speech bubbles.

In addition, sessions run for 45 minutes on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 5pm, for ages 7 to 14. Each weekend brings a different theme, supported by mediators trained to adapt activities for mixed ages.

“Viva Mauricio” expands accessibility

Viva Mauricio — Mauricio de Sousa, the Immersive Experience drew more than 415,000 visitors since opening. To improve comfort and access, CCBB added an extra visiting date for people with disabilities and their companions.

The regular neurodivergent-friendly hour remains on Sundays from 8am to 9am. On February 24 (Tuesday), the exhibition opens exceptionally for visitors with disabilities from 3pm to 7pm, with no need to book tickets in advance for that date.
