PRISCILLA will lead “Susi, the Musical,” opening February 21 at Teatro Sérgio Cardoso in São Paulo, with tickets available on Sympla.
After a series of cryptic posts that sparked speculation online since early January, the singer, host, and actress confirmed the news on Wednesday (Jan 7) through a video shared on Instagram (URL: https://www.instagram.com/p/DTNkZrQjhLT/).
The role marks a milestone in her 20-year career. For the first time, she takes on a musical theatre lead as a full-time cast member. Her first step into the genre came in November 2025, with a praised special appearance across seven performances of “Wicked.”
“Leading a musical for the first time is a very meaningful step in my journey. Susi carries memory, affection, and many layers of meaning, and bringing her to life in a show that speaks to the present is a huge artistic challenge—and very special to me,” says PRISCILLA.
Susi, the Musical opens February 21
Inspired by the Susi doll—first released in 1966 and deeply rooted in Brazilian pop culture—the production blends nostalgia with current conversations. “Susi, the Musical” is created and written by Mara Carvalho, featuring songs by Thiago Gimenes, with concept and direction by Ulysses Cruz.
The show is presented by the Ministry of Culture, sponsored by Itaú, and licensed by Estrela. It is produced by Ulysses Cruz Arte & Entretenimento. Tickets are available on Sympla (URL: https://bileto.sympla.com.br/event/114413) and at the theatre box office.
Story tackles identity and social media
The plot follows Victor, a highly imaginative boy living a screen-driven routine that narrows how he experiences the world. Moving through a dreamlike path between fantasy and fear, he embarks on a journey alongside Susi, confronting anxieties and discovering new perspectives as he transitions into adolescence.
Within this symbolic universe, Vênus emerges as a figure shaped by imported standards, perfection narratives, and modern pressures tied to consumption and image. She functions as an opposing force throughout Victor’s path.
With music, humor, and emotion, the production explores themes such as identity, self-esteem, consumerism, feminism, social media, globalization, and belonging. As Victor searches for his vocation and reconnects with his own story, Susi fights to remain meaningful to new generations.
On stage, Susi appears in multiple versions, portraying different professions, ethnicities, and possibilities. The idea is to mirror the diversity of Brazilian women and highlight cultural resilience in the face of foreign standards.
By weaving together past and present, entertainment and reflection, “Susi, the Musical” invites audiences to revisit memories, question imposed ideals, and embrace authenticity.
