Brazilian school break just got more tempting at BioParque do Rio. The attraction launched a flash promotion that drops children’s admission to R$ 10, exclusively for tickets purchased on its official website. The offer is valid for purchase and use through January 31.

Here’s how it works: the discount applies with the purchase of one full-price adult ticket, with a limit of up to three children’s tickets per adult. The goal is to make the family outing more accessible while keeping the park’s educational focus in play.

A new alpaca duo debuts at the Farm Area

The timing also spotlights one of the park’s newest attractions: a pair of alpacas now on view at the Farm Area (Fazendinha) inside Quinta da Boa Vista. The male and female arrived on December 17 and went through an adaptation period closely monitored by the technical and veterinary teams.

Native to South America’s Andean regions—especially Peru, Bolivia, and Chile—alpacas are known for their gentle temperament and curiosity. BioParque says the enclosure was prepared to meet the species’ needs and help them settle into their new environment.

Visitors can vote on names until Jan 22

Guests can do more than watch the newcomers. A public vote is open through January 22 via a QR code inside the park and on BioParque do Rio’s Instagram (@bioparquedorio).

The name options nod to pop culture, Brazilian everyday food, TV, and iconic destinations. Choices include Virginia and Vini Jr; Café and Leite; Lilo & Stitch; Mirna and Profeta; and Machu and Picchu, referencing the species’ Andean roots.

“Axolotl Kingdom” adds an immersive stop

Another highlight is the Axolotl Kingdom, an immersive space dedicated to one of the world’s most unusual animals. Inspired by Día de Muertos and the canals of Xochimilco, the experience blends culture, science, and conservation.

According to BioParque, the axolotls were rescued from wildlife trafficking in 2022, spent time at Bioparque Pantanal, and arrived in Rio in 2025 with technical support from AquaRio.

Located in Quinta da Boa Vista, BioParque do Rio is home to around 650 animals across 124 species, spread over 56 enclosures. The route includes educational areas, hands-on children’s activities, food options, a souvenir shop, on-site parking, and a zipline (additional fee).
