ONG Nóiz opens a monthly safe space for neurodiverse mothers in Cidade de Deus on March 7, offering free psychological support and community care.
A project born from listening
In the month dedicated to women, ONG Nóiz — a nonprofit based in the Cidade de Deus community in Rio de Janeiro’s West Zone — is launching “Mães de Coração Forte” (Strong-Hearted Mothers), a project designed to provide psychological support and social assistance to mothers of neurodiverse children. The launch takes place on March 7 at 10 a.m. at the organization’s headquarters.
The initiative creates a structured space for group conversations, self-care activities, and genuine community support — recognizing that these mothers often navigate overwhelming challenges with little outside help.

Monthly meetings open to all
The monthly gatherings will take place every Saturday at 10 a.m. and are open to all mothers in Cidade de Deus — regardless of whether their child is enrolled in any of the NGO’s existing programs, such as Occupational Therapy. Registration is required at: https://forms.gle/YrBJqm5H2LGoAjaw5
Roses and a message against violence
Also on March 7, starting at 10 a.m., ONG Nóiz will distribute roses to women in the community alongside a card reading: “Women are meant to flourish, never to be hurt.” The gesture marks International Women’s Day and draws attention to the ongoing fight against gender-based violence.
The message carries particular weight: Brazil ranks among the countries with the highest absolute numbers of femicide worldwide, making grassroots awareness efforts like this one critically important.
