Massive panels near Aterro do Flamengo display works by Toz, Cadu, Mülambo, Marcos Chaves and Paulo Bruscky in ArtRio’s new project.
Rio de Janeiro becomes an open-air gallery with the Open-Air Museum, a project by ArtRio in partnership with media company Bloohd. The initiative transforms 7.5 x 40-meter panels near Aterro do Flamengo into urban-scale canvases that bring contemporary Brazilian art to the streets.
Among the highlights are “O Vendedor de Alegria” by Toz, featuring his playful beach vendor character, and “Tripa” by Cadu. Other works include “Não tem museu no mundo como a casa da nossa vó” by Mülambo, “Essa luz dorme acesa” by Marcos Chaves, and “O tempo passa, a arte fica” by Paulo Bruscky.
The project aims to integrate art into daily life, making it accessible to everyone. Upcoming installations will feature works by Lucia Koch and Anna Bella Geiger. The participating galleries include Nara Roesler, Danielian, Portas Vilaseca, Movimento, and Vermelho.
The 16th edition of ArtRio will take place from September 16 to 20 at Marina da Glória, further establishing it as one of Latin America’s leading contemporary art events.
