From November 15 to February 9, CCBB SP hosts “CORpo MANIFESTO”, featuring over 100 works exploring Black identity and resistance.
The Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil São Paulo (CCBB SP) presents “CORpo MANIFESTO”, by Afro-Brazilian artist Sérgio Adriano H, from November 15, 2025, to February 9, 2026. Featuring over 100 works, the exhibition invites audiences to reflect on the history, memory, and struggle of Black people in Brazil. Admission is free.
A body of resistance and transformation
Celebrating 25 years of artistic work, this is the artist’s first major solo exhibition in São Paulo. After its acclaimed run at CCBB Rio de Janeiro, the show arrives in the capital with curation by Claudinei Roberto da Silva and Juliana Crispe, reaffirming the strength of Afro-diasporic contemporary art in Brazil. Curator Paulo Herkenhoff described it as “one of the most powerful exhibitions ever seen.”
Art as manifesto
The artist uses his body as a platform for political resistance and expression, addressing issues such as structural racism, decolonial thought, and Black identity empowerment. Highlights include the performance “desCOLONIZAR CORpos”, which opens the exhibition, and a new installation displayed in the CCBB SP Annex windows, extending the artwork into the streets.
“The showcase becomes an extension of my work, bringing art beyond walls to connect with people who might not feel invited into cultural spaces.”
Curator Juliana Crispe sees the exhibition as “a call to revisit Brazil’s history,” while Claudinei Roberto da Silva notes that the artist transforms his body into a tool of reflection, merging poetic and political languages to confront colonial legacies and contemporary racism.
