A Cavaleira arrives at Sesc Santana on January 4, blending circus, theater and music in a narrative inspired by Don Quixote.
On January 4, 2026, Sesc Santana hosts the play A Cavaleira, by Grupo Bota Fulô. The show tells the story of Palafita and Massapê, circus artists who lose the place where they live and work after the circus grounds are sold to a large company. From this turning point, the characters embark on a journey to reclaim what was lost.
Inspired by Don Quixote, the play features a narrator who interacts with and influences the story through music. The dramaturgy is by Ricardo Martins and Vini Silveira, who also directs the production. The narrative unfolds in a non-linear structure guided by the narrator’s voice.
The performance draws on itinerant circus traditions and celebrates Latin American female clowns, paying tribute to the clown Jujuba (Julieta Hernández), whose artistic journey inspired the central character.
