Applications are open: SPED launches an April course to prep artists for musical theatre auditions with photos, video, résumé and strategy by March 20
São Paulo School of Dance (SPED) has opened applications for its cultural extension course “Building an Artistic Image for Musical Theatre Auditions”. Running from April 1–15, the program targets a career make-or-break moment: showing up to auditions and casting calls with professional materials and a clear strategy.
SPED is linked to the São Paulo State Secretariat of Culture, Economy and Creative Industries, managed by Associação Pró-Dança, with artistic and educational direction by Inês Bogéa. This edition is curated by Zuba Janaina.
What you’ll work on
The course combines theory and practice to build industry-ready materials such as photos, video, résumé and portfolio—commonly required in musical theatre selection processes.
It also offers practical guidance on how artists should prepare for auditions and tests, addressing stage posture, professional attitude and personal image, with the goal of aligning presence and communication with what the market tends to expect.
“This course aims to provide the main tools so the artist is better prepared and can stand out in what the job market demands.”
The statement comes from Inês Bogéa, SPED’s artistic and educational director, as she points to a growing need in contemporary performer training.
Why it matters now
Musical theatre in Brazil is heating up, with major productions slated for the year, including “Shrek – O Musical”, “Percy Jackson – O Ladrão de Raios: O Musical” and “Tina Turner – O Musical”. As the field expands, competition for roles increases—and preparation becomes even more decisive.

How to apply
