Visual poetry of human finitude
Visual artist and photographer Sandra Gonçalves opens Tessituras do Adeus on January 28, 2026, at 4 PM, at Centro Cultural Correios RJ. The show poetically probes transience, blending personal photos with digital finds into hybrid compositions.
Each image stems from personal farewell experiences, urging viewers to ponder life’s boundaries with death. Drawing from Martin Heidegger, it frames finitude as a path to authentic existence.
Death, though unlivable directly, deeply shapes our grasp of existence.
Works seize fleeting hospital moments, spotlighting fragility, resilience, and endurance. Sandra crafts visual palimpsests, as Catherine Lepront notes, projecting inner worlds outward.
Suspended time and image-phrase
UFRGS researcher Sandra Gonçalves centers on photography’s time, life, and farewell. The exhibit suspends time, echoing her prior series “Tempo Suspenso: entre o caos e a pandemia”.
Structured in three phases, per Rancière’s image-phrase: spider metaphor and time’s webs; shifts, waiting, and frailty; finitude and ethereal sublimation.
The gallery becomes an immersive dive into mortality and human legacies.
