Tessituras do Adeus Weaves Life and Death

Sandra Gonçalves blends personal photos and digital finds into hybrid images diving into human finitude, opening tomorrow at Centro Cultural Correios RJ.

Rio-born visual artist and photographer, now based in Porto Alegre, unveils Tessituras do Adeus, curated by Letícia Lau. Works stem from personal farewells, poetically probing transience.

A visual ritual of goodbyes

Photos seize fleeting hospital moments and reimagined scenes. They probe fragility, resilience, and endurance as immortality. Drawing from Heidegger, the show urges authentic living.

Curator Letícia Lau spotlights visual palimpsests rich in memory. The exhibit unfolds in three acts: spider webs and time, waiting and frailty, finitude and ethereal rise.

About Sandra Gonçalves

Rio native, she teaches photography at UFRGS. Author of photobooks Capsule (2021) and La vie en Rouge (2024). Explores social life, culture, and mortality. Debut solo show in 2000 at Palácio do Catete.

About Letícia Lau

Curator and art educator with 19 years at Babilônica Arte. Holds degrees in Curatorial Practices (UFRGS). Worked on 8th CASA TATO and MACRS. Studies hybrids in painting and photography.
