Tenor Thiago Arancam honors Brazil’s collective memory with songs from Vale Tudo, Pantanal and Terra Nostra in a one-night concert on April 25 in São Paulo.
On April 25, Teatro Liberdade in São Paulo hosts “Trilhas Inesquecíveis de Novelas” (Unforgettable Soap Opera Soundtracks), a special concert by tenor Thiago Arancam. The show revisits songs that have lived in Brazilian homes for decades, carried by the country’s most beloved telenovelas.
A Journey Through Brazil’s Television Memory
With over 700 performances across more than 40 countries, Arancam crafts an experience far beyond a standard concert. The setlist bridges classical opera and popular songs immortalized by Brazilian TV. “Aquarela do Brasil,” from Vale Tudo, leads into “Tocando em Frente,” the anthem of the original Pantanal, and “Coração de Estudante,” which moved audiences again in the telenovela’s recent remake.
The Italian influence — deeply woven into Brazilian soap opera history — comes alive through “Con te Partirò”, the signature theme of Terra Nostra, and “Mia Gioconda,” the haunting leitmotif of A Viagem. Operatic grandeur peaks with “Nessun Dorma”, featured in Belíssima, and “Esperanza,” which defined the emotional arc of the novela Esperança.
The beloved “Evidências” rounds out the popular side of the program, while “Il Mondo” and “Bella Ciao” close the night in celebration of the Italian cultural roots that shaped so much of Brazilian storytelling. A full live band ensures a sophisticated, emotionally charged atmosphere throughout.

A World-Class Tenor Returns to São Paulo
A graduate in classical voice from the Faculdade de Música Carlos Gomes in São Paulo, Thiago Arancam has built a truly international career. He has performed at La Scala in Milan, the Washington National Opera, the Vienna State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, and the Bolshoi in Moscow, among dozens of other stages across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
In Brazil, he starred in Puccini’s “Tosca” at the Theatro Municipal do Rio de Janeiro and performed in Bizet’s “Carmen” at the Theatro Municipal de São Paulo. His most remarkable run in a single production was the Brazilian adaptation of “The Phantom of the Opera”, with 360 performances. He has also collaborated on special projects with pianist and conductor João Carlos Martins.
