Cia Móvel de Teatro brings the children’s show “Um Lugar Logo Ali” to the Teatro Municipal Domingos Oliveira on February 7 and 8 (Saturday and Sunday), at 11 a.m., in Rio’s South Zone. The age rating is for all audiences.

Light on its feet but pointed in what it asks, the piece zooms in on a reality many families recognize: life moving too fast. It looks at productivity pressure and how that mindset can strain relationships and the environment, while keeping the story playful and clear for kids.

A “happy” city by force

The story unfolds in Eficiência City, a glossy, hyper-speed town where constant output is the rule. There, Hábito and his cousin Rotina are model workers who follow the orders of Marytocracia, an invisible figure that runs the city through meritocracy.

Everything shifts when Contemplação arrives. The traveler offers a different way to relate to time, nature, and connection, nudging the characters toward change and opening space for conversations about diversity, listening, and new ways of living together.

Theater, dance, and circus in one world

The staging blends theater, dance, and circus—hallmarks of Cia Móvel de Teatro’s work. The result is physical and poetic, with energetic movement and well-timed pauses that invite the audience to breathe with the story.

“Eficiência City is where progress and technological development make us like machines—numb and disconnected from our senses and our hearts.”

The quote comes from director Cátia Costa, nominated for the Shell Prize for Best Direction for “Um pássaro não é uma pedra”, alongside Adriana Schneider and Mar Mordente. She describes the show as a call to “smell real flowers again and be moved by the sunset.”

Sustainability on stage

Costumes by Erika Schwarz are made entirely from reused and recyclable materials, including thrifted fabrics and discarded clothing. The set, designed by Bianca Bühring, follows the same sustainable approach, aligning the show’s message with its practice.

The original soundtrack is by Aline Peixoto. The cast features Daniel Leuback, Helena Hamam, Kai Lopes, and Raphael Pompeu.
