Event in Pomerode expects 90,000 visitors until January 25. Festa Pomerana features expanded pavilions, more parades, and facial recognition technology.
The 41st Festa Pomerana begins this Wednesday (14) in Pomerode, Brazil. Until January 25, the traditional Germanic culture event in the European Valley expects to receive 90,000 visitors. For the 2026 edition, besides the culture, folk music, parades, German cuisine, and cold craft draft beer, the festival is full of new features.
The Netzsch Cultural Pavilion, for example, is 40% larger and will now concentrate the traditional presentations. The space will host gatherings of Folk Dance groups, Teufelsgeige players, Bandoneon players, and Royalties. Another novelty is the transfer of the Royalty Contest, on the last day of the festival, to this location.
In 2026, the Festa Pomerana will have 27 evaporative air coolers distributed throughout the environments to improve thermal comfort for visitors. Regarding security, for the first time, there will be facial recognition, drone monitoring, and the use of dogs.
“Our festival is historically very safe; we have very few incidents. With technology, we will further improve controls to ensure that this characteristic of Festa Pomerana is preserved,” evaluates the Secretary of Tourism, Culture, and Economic Development, Manfredo Goede.
Attractions and parades in Little Germany
Another innovation of this edition is the addition of one more parade, totaling eight presentations. The extra procession will take place on January 21, the municipality’s political emancipation anniversary. On the menu, besides the typical buffet and à la carte options, visitors will find various snacks and a diverse offer of craft beers.
For the first time, the Association of Microbreweries of Pomerode will be represented at the event, with labels produced in the city. Maestro is the event’s official brewery.
“I want to extend an open-hearted invitation: come experience the 41st Festa Pomerana with us. It is time to celebrate our culture, our tradition. Festa Pomerana is made with care, quality, and much joy. It is the moment to value our people’s customs, gather families, friends, and welcome those who come to know our Little Germany,” states the mayor of Pomerode, Rafael Ramthun.
Cultural program and competitions
Festa Pomerana has activities for the whole family and involves residents and tourists in traditions inherited from the immigrants. Among the most charming attractions are the parades, which travel along Rua XV de Novembro to the Municipal Events Park.
Inside the pavilions, there are varied cultural manifestations, such as a Christian service held in Pomeranian and German languages (Jan 18, at 11 AM) and various meetings of folk groups and musicians. Typical competitions also promise to liven up the audience with contests like Log Sawing and Draft Beer Drinking.
