One of Rio de Janeiro state’s most beloved street food festivals is heading to the city of Resende for the very first time. The National Podrão Fair — “podrão” being a Brazilian slang term for indulgent, over-the-top street food — takes over the parking lot of PátioMix Resende shopping center for its 35th edition, bringing live music and family-friendly fun alongside the food. Best of all: admission is free.

Outrageous food that steals the show

With around 20 vendors, the fair is designed to impress. Highlights include a 3-kg burger, a 2-kg coxinha (Brazil’s iconic fried chicken snack), a 120-cm hot dog, a 2-kg acarajé (a traditional Bahian fritter), a Coxinha Burger, a Coxinha Bouquet, Potato Tower, Churros Tower, Grilled Ice Cream, BBQ, and Northeastern Brazilian cuisine.

The mind behind the event

“We are thrilled to bring the National Podrão Fair to Resende for the first time. Our goal is to offer a great gastronomic event and a fun environment for the whole family.” Suzanne Malta, creator and promoter of the National Podrão Fair, also known for her food Instagram profile @ondecomernorio, alongside producer Filipe Machado

Kids zone and live music

A dedicated children’s area will feature supervised activities and inflatable rides, including a mechanical bull, large slide, spinning disc, inflatable crocodile, trampoline and bounce house.

The musical lineup covers a wide range of tastes. Samba and pagode fans can enjoy James e o Grupo D’Início, while rock lovers will be treated to 80s and 90s classics performed by Mamonas Assassinas (cover band) and Protocolo B.

PátioMix Resende, opened in 2011, sits at the city’s main highway interchange along the Presidente Dutra Highway — the key road connecting Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo — making it easily accessible for visitors from across the region.
