Breaking do Verão 2026 takes place at Fundição Progresso, with free entry and finalists from all over Brazil, celebrating the festival’s 5th anniversary.
Breaking do Verão is established as one of the main stages for urban dance and Hip-Hop culture, turning Rio de Janeiro into the epicenter of the sport from January 22 to 25, 2026. The 5th anniversary edition returns to Fundição Progresso in Lapa, with free entry and live broadcast of the finals nationwide.
Before the Rio event, the festival held qualifiers in four capitals: Recife (PE), Salinópolis (PA), Porto Alegre (RS), and Brasília (DF). Winners from these Cyphers compete at Fundição Progresso in the new “Prova de Fogo,” facing top performers from Cypher Rio and international stars. Champions in the men’s and women’s categories win R$20,000.
The event is presented by Petrobras and the Brazilian Government, with master sponsorship from Cheetos®, Sprite sponsorship, media partnership from Bandsports and Band TV, production by Fábrica, and realization by the Ministry of Culture, supported by the Rouanet Law.
Fernando Bó, festival creator, highlights: “The excitement for Rio is high. After touring Brazil, celebrating our 5th anniversary at Fundição Progresso will be the highlight of this journey. We will make history in Lapa.”
Rafael Oliveira, Petrobras Sports Sponsorship Manager, adds: “Our sponsorship promotes inclusion, diversity, and access to urban sport and culture, valuing expressions from the peripheries and engaging with youth.”
Technical curation is led by b-boy Pelezinho, an international Breaking reference: “Contributing to a project that brings visibility to Breaking in Brazil is a dream come true. I am proud of everything we are building.”
The 2026 jury includes Brazilian b-boys Migaz and Rudá, and international judges Lilou (France), Lego (USA), and Madmax (Belgium).
