Casa Firjan in Rio de Janeiro will host Nuclear Summit 2026 on March 23–24. Organized by ABDAN (Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activities), the event reaches its third edition and positions itself as Brazil’s leading forum on the future of nuclear energy, convening government officials, industry leaders, academia, investors, and experts from Brazil and abroad.

Nuclear energy and the energy transition

With an agenda centered on the energy transition, technological innovation, safety, supply chains, and new applications, this will be the Summit’s largest edition yet. Topics include geopolitics, regulation for emerging technologies, small modular reactors (SMRs), nuclear medicine, fuel production, industrial decarbonization, data centers, and new markets for Brazil’s nuclear sector.

Choosing Casa Firjan underscores Rio de Janeiro’s role in Brazil’s nuclear landscape and highlights deeper ties between industry, innovation, and technology. Over two days, the Summit features thematic panels, keynote talks, relationship brunches, and networking spaces, plus RDO Firjan, an initiative designed to connect Rio-based suppliers with major buyers across the nuclear value chain.

“The Nuclear Summit is consolidating itself as the main space for qualified dialogue on the future of nuclear energy in Brazil. At a time when the world is accelerating investment in nuclear technologies to ensure energy security and decarbonization, the event brings together the right players to discuss concrete paths for the country to move forward with responsibility, innovation, and a long-term vision.” – Celso Cunha, President of ABDAN.

SMRs, nuclear medicine, and data centers on the agenda

On Monday (March 23), the program starts with a welcome coffee at 08:00 and an opening ceremony at 09:00 led by Celso Cunha. The day then moves into panels on nuclear energy in the new geopolitical landscape, strategies for a lower-emissions oil industry, new technological frontiers in nuclear medicine, and NORM and its technological challenges.

On Tuesday (March 24), sessions resume at 08:00 with welcome coffee and cover regulation as a driver for SMR progress, new markets in Brazil’s nuclear sector, strengthening the nuclear supply chain, efficiency and clean power for data centers, and opportunities created by expanding nuclear fuel production, ending with a networking reception.

Industry backing highlights the Summit’s reach

This edition is supported and sponsored by strategic companies in the nuclear and energy chain, including Framatome, Westinghouse, Diamante, and Âmbar, reinforcing the event’s international and cross-sector profile.
