ESPM Rio opens the Villa-Aymoré Hub with the “Novembro Negro” event, celebrating Black creativity and combining history, art and reflection.
New cultural space at ESPM Rio
The Villa-Aymoré Hub is dedicated to culture, creativity, education, and community engagement. Located in a historic architectural complex in Rio de Janeiro, it connects the institution to the city and strengthens its cultural innovation mission.
“Novembro Negro” program
The free, public event takes place on November 27 and marks Brazil’s Black Awareness Day, featuring history, art, and cultural integration.
At 4 p.m., participants can take a guided tour of Villa-Aymoré, highlighting historical, architectural, and cultural aspects, followed by an Entrepreneurs’ Fair.
At 6 p.m., the AfroCreativity panel discussion takes place, moderated by Douglas Coelho, with guests Taynara Cabral, Matheus Dias, and Gabriel Ricardo, exploring Black creativity, representation, and art’s transformative role.
The event concludes at 7:30 p.m. with a performance by Grupo Nós do Morro, a Vidigal-based theater collective recognized nationally and internationally for social action and artistic training.
Expected audience and cultural impact
With 50 to 70 expected participants, the event reinforces ESPM’s commitment to diversity, culture, and social dialogue, bringing together students, community, partners, and collaborators.
The inauguration also opens Villa-Aymoré as a hub for creativity and cultural experimentation in the city.
