After appearances in Portugal and at SXSW, Brazil’s Fartura Platform announces a full calendar of six gastronomy festivals across Minas Gerais in 2026.
Plataforma Fartura Gastronomia do Brasil kicked off 2026 on a global stage. The project first traveled to Portugal for the Essência do Vinho Porto, then landed in Austin, Texas, to lead the cultural and culinary curation of Casa Minas at SXSW 2026, from March 14 to 16. Now, the platform turns its focus back to its home territory — and the Minas Gerais festival lineup for 2026 is one of the most ambitious in its history.
A season opening in May
The Fartura Festivals 2026 get underway in May with back-to-back events. The Festival Fartura Dona Lucinha – Serro (5th edition) takes place on May 16 and 17 in the historic town of Serro. Right after, the Festival Fartura Conceição do Mato Dentro returns for its 7th edition, running May 22 to 24.
August brings two highly anticipated events. The Festival Fartura Nova Lima (4th edition) opens the month on August 1 and 2. Then comes the Festival Cultura e Gastronomia de Tiradentes, now in its remarkable 29th edition, running August 21 to 30 — the platform’s flagship event and one of Brazil’s most important food and culture festivals.
The second half of the year brings two more highlights. Belo Horizonte hosts the Festival Fartura BH (12th edition) on September 26 and 27. The season closes with the Festival Fartura Lagoinha (4th edition), November 30 through December 4.
Food as the main act
While each festival adapts to its host city, all editions share a common thread: placing the full food production chain — from farm to table — at center stage. Visitors can expect stalls by leading chefs from across Brazil, producer markets, hands-on workshops, live cooking demonstrations, music, and performing arts.
We traveled through Europe and North America carrying the richness of Minas Gerais food culture. Now, we turn our gaze back to the state’s interior, in search of research, flavors, and stories. Then we bring all that experience to the capital, consolidating our work. That’s how we prepare for new international journeys in 2027. It’s a cycle that renews itself. — Guilherme Sânzio, production director of Plataforma Fartura
Minas Gerais cuisine on the world stage
At SXSW 2026, one of the world’s leading innovation gatherings, Fartura led the curation of Casa Minas, an initiative by the Minas Gerais State Government. The team brought 80 kg of sweets, coffees, and jams, serving more than 3,000 portions — including torresmo (pork crackling), stuffed cheese bread, sun-dried beef tartare, cheese pastries, free-range chicken, and corn with cream cheese. The space blended culture, hospitality, and innovation, helping position Minas Gerais as an active player in the global gastronomy and creative economy circuit.
Throughout the year, the platform also runs Expedição Fartura in June — a research expedition traveling through different regions of Brazil in search of ingredients, producers, and stories that feed into the festivals and other initiatives.
