The Flavors of the Northeast
Food stalls bring the Northeast’s culinary tradition to Barra da Tijuca, with tapioca, sun-dried beef (carne de sol), baião de dois, caruru, sarapatel, cuscuz, bolo de rolo, and fried cake. The standout is the Do Batista stall, run by Paraíba-born chef Batista, whose menu blends Brazilian comfort food with a distinctly Northeastern soul.
Northeastern Brazilian culture is one of the richest and most diverse in the country — and Festival Arretado brings all of it to Rio de Janeiro.

Free admission, 15 live acts, and authentic Northeastern Brazilian food. Festival Arretado returns to Uptown Barra from April 18–21, ending on a public holiday.
Festival Arretado is back at Uptown Barra for its milestone 10th edition — and it is shaping up to be the biggest celebration of Northeastern Brazilian culture ever held in Rio de Janeiro. Running from April 18 to 21, noon to 11 PM daily, the festival takes over the shopping complex’s event area with free entry and a packed lineup.
15 Acts Across Four Days
The musical program spans forró, arrocha, axé music, sertanejo, and reggae. DJ Jamelão kicks things off every day. Highlights include Francielly Castro blending forró and arrocha, Os 3 Nordestinos delivering classic forró pé de serra, Alma Jamaica paying tribute to reggae roots, and the Bloco do Tito closing the festival on Tuesday with high-energy axé music.
Beyond the stage performances, visitors can join capoeira circles by group CNB and take part in open forró street dance classes on all four days. The artistic performer Boneca Ana Maria also appears on Sunday and Tuesday.
