The Queima do Alho — one of Brazil’s most beloved celebrations of tropeiro culture — returns for its eighth edition with a bold new format. On April 11, starting at 11:30 a.m., at Expominas Araxá, the event will offer two distinct areas: free admission for cultural programming and a paid gastronomic experience at R$50 per person (first batch).

Culture open to all

“It’s a bigger event, with expanded capacity, where we celebrate tropeiro culture and the essence of Minas Gerais through gastronomy, music, and popular theater,” said organizer Luciano Rios. The free cultural area will feature live music, a viola orchestra, popular theater, and the traditional tropeiro exhibition. Even with free admission, attendees must pick up their tickets in advance at designated distribution points for crowd control.

All-you-can-eat for a lower price

The gastronomic experience — the heart of the event — keeps its beloved format: comitivas (traditional trail cook teams) prepare authentic regional dishes, and ticket holders can try everything unlimited. At R$50, the first-batch ticket is even cheaper than last year’s entry fee, when the event ran as a single-format experience.

“The first-batch ticket price is lower than what we charged last year, when the event ran as a single format. And just like always, ticket holders get to try all dishes prepared by the comitivas, as much as they want.” — Luciano Rios, event organizer

100% of proceeds go to charity

The new structure expands the event’s reach while preserving its charitable mission. Every real raised from gastronomic tickets goes directly to six social organizations in Araxá: Ampara, SOS, APAE, Recanto do Idoso São Vicente de Paulo, Casa de Acolhimento São Francisco, and Obras Sociais Jesus Te Ama.

Recognized as a cultural heritage of the state of Minas Gerais, the Queima do Alho is the largest event of its kind in the Triângulo Mineiro and Alto Paranaíba regions. It is funded through Brazil’s Lei Rouanet cultural incentive law, with sponsorship from CBMM and Zema. Support: MacCain, Satis, DTelecom, and TV Integração. Official mobility app: Rota Araxá. Official beer: Império. Produced by Bezz Eventos and the Ministry of Culture, Government of Brazil.
