The Expo Lendas do Futebol (Legends of Football Expo) turns the first floor of Shopping Metropolitano Barra, in Rio de Janeiro’s Southwestern Zone, into a living museum of World Cup history. The exhibition runs from April 1 to May 15 and is completely free to visit.

Decades of the beautiful game on display

At the heart of the expo is a timeline of official World Cup match balls dating back to 1970. From the iconic Telstar, debuted in Mexico in 1970, to the Al Rihla used in Qatar in 2022, each ball represents a distinct chapter in football history. Standout pieces include the Azteca (1986), the Jabulani (2010), and the Brazuca (2014).

Alongside the balls, a broad collection of national team jerseys spans continents and generations. Countries represented include Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany, Spain, Japan, Belgium, the Netherlands, Morocco, Senegal, Uruguay, the United States, Egypt, South Korea, Australia, Ivory Coast, and New Zealand.

Two trophies that shaped football history

Visitors will also get a close look at replicas of football’s two most legendary trophies: the Jules Rimet Trophy, awarded to World Cup champions from 1930 to 1970, and the FIFA World Cup Trophy, the sport’s ultimate symbol ever since.

“The Expo Lendas do Futebol is an opportunity to bring different generations together around a passion that transcends time. We want the public to relive memorable World Cup moments and use the exhibition as a gathering point to celebrate football.”

Aline Piubel, Marketing Manager, Shopping Metropolitano Barra

A hub for sticker collectors

Beyond the displays, the expo includes a dedicated area for football sticker album trading, bringing fans of all ages together. After the exhibition wraps up in May, the trading corner will remain open through July, aligning with the end of the World Cup calendar.
