São Paulo’s iconic Memorial da América Latina, in the Barra Funda neighborhood, turns 37 this month — and the celebration comes with an extraordinary feast. The 1st Venezuelan and Peruvian Food Festival, organized by ArtShine Promoções e Eventos, takes over the venue on March 14 and 15, Saturday and Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with free admission.

A taste of Latin America in one weekend

The event expects to welcome 40,000 visitors over the two days. To meet the demand, organizers plan to use two metric tons of corn and corn-based ingredients for Venezuelan dishes and one and a half metric tons of fresh fish for Peruvian cuisine. More than 60 vendors — between food tents and food trucks — will offer over 300 food and drink options.

Venezuelan flavors take center stage with the cachapa pabellón (BRL 45), a corn-based pancake stuffed with shredded beef, black beans and cheese; the classic griddled arepas starting at BRL 35; and corn empanadas with various fillings from BRL 25. A traditional sugarcane juice (BRL 15) rounds out the experience.

From Peru, guests can enjoy ceviche, leche de tigre and arroz chaufa, among other specialties that have made Peruvian cuisine one of the world’s most acclaimed. Mexican tacos and burritos (BRL 40 each), Argentine empanadas from BRL 18, and Uruguayan choripán from BRL 40 — served with chimichurri — complete the Latin American spread. Brazilian classics like pastel, acarajé and baião de dois are also on the menu.

As we celebrate the anniversary of Memorial da América Latina, we are proud to hold the tenth edition of a festival dedicated to Latin American cuisines, honoring traditions, ingredients and the diversity that strengthens our common identity. Márcio Alvarez, CEO of ArtShine Promoções e Eventos
